In the Spring/Summer 2023 cycle, Tia Adeola Back at NYFW, we played our second show on the official calendar. This season, the Nigerian designer, guided by the passing of Thierry Mugler, paid tribute to him and his love of noir in his films. Historically, Adeola’s collections have featured ruffles, feathers, and other design elements in keeping with Victorian fashion, and this season she took a deep dive into romantic themes with a new-age perspective.
“This season has been a reflection of my life and my experience. “I’m getting older and more self-aware by the day and really becoming Tia Adeola. But I hope that was conveyed well to the audience.”
Envisioning herself as a ‘burgeoning couture designer’, Adeora has designed a new collection of ready-to-wear silhouettes with exquisite and eye-catching details. This season, she continued her use of ruffles and lace for a new and bold iteration, and to add even more drama to her dimly lit runway, she designed several headpieces into select looks. During that time, Adeola inspired the trend for stylish face masks, with ruffled versions that sold out instantly each time they restocked. Many designers have hit accessories, but we’re waiting to see if Adeola transforms any of its runway items into off-the-shelf accessories.
After introducing menswear for the first time in the previous collection, Adeola has designed five menswear pieces with a sporty touch this season, thanks to its partnership with Nike. “Working with Nike is a dream come true. The team I’ve worked with is so close-knit, we feel like family. They take my creative freedom very seriously.” “I’m accepting it,” she says Adeola. “I grew up very involved in sports like the 100m, hockey and football, so sportswear has always been part of my aesthetic and working with Nike has allowed me to do two things I love about her. , which allowed us to intertwine sport and fashion.”
Adeola continues to establish her eponymous brand in the luxury fashion arena, but her beloved community has been consistent from the beginning. In her last performance, flow mm She took the runway and debuted one of her new songs.
