“The Wendy Williams Show” Graduation, Sherri Shepherd Nabs Day Slot

Gray Shepherd is finally getting his own show.

On Tuesday, after months of speculation and rumors, Debmar-Mercury confirmed the news that Wendy Williams Show will end after 14 seasons, and announced that Shepherd’s fall will be the title of a new syndicated tape.

Shepherd – who has been a frequent guest host this season since Williams has been dealing with health issues – will take over periods of time spent at the Williams show on stations owned and operated by Fox.

Speculations that Shepherd – a former presenter of The View and current presenter of the daytime Fox Dish Nation – will take over Williams, circulated a few weeks after TMZ reported that Williams would not return to her show.

Like The Wendy Williams Show, the Shepherd program – called Sherri – will be distributed by Debmar-Mercury of Lionsgate. Co-founder Wendy Williams David Perler will hold the same position at Gray, executive producer along with Shepherd and her partner-producer Jawn Murray.

“Gray is a natural person who has proven his skills as a participant in the debate at The View, Fox’s Dish Nation and again this season as a popular guest presenter Wendy,” said Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein. in a statement. Like our viewers, we were impressed by Gray’s unique comedic twist in our daily live segment of “Hot Topics,” her creativity and interaction with our guests. Her love for content and daytime fans is obvious, and we are excited to work with her to create another long-term franchise for conversation. ”

Marcus and Bernstein added: “It’s also a bittersweet moment for us and our partners at Fox. We all have great love and affection for Wendy, who in 12 incredible seasons has become a true icon as the lead host of a daily talk show on “Hot Topics” and interviews with celebrities. Since Wendy is still unable to host the show as she continues her journey to recovery, we believe that our fans, TV stations and advertising partners are better off starting this transition now. We hope to be able to work with Wendy again in the future, and we still wish her a speedy and complete recovery. “

Williams was absent throughout the season of her eponymous show when dealing with health issues including the COVID-19 case and current complications of Graves ’disease.

Gray made the announcement by taking Wendy on Tuesday morning, telling the audience that she is not replacing Wendy, and gave her props for tracing in daytime television.
