Taylor Swift talked about the inspiration behind the song “Lavender Haze,” which she wrote about her relationship with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn, in a media blitz for her upcoming album, Midnights.
The 32-year-old Grammy winner learned the term from the AMC series Mad Men in a video posted to Instagram on Friday. She thought the concept was “wonderful”.
The Wild Dreams singer also prefaced why the words reminded him of Alwyn, 31, saying, “I mean, in theory, when you’re in Lavender Haze, you stay there and nobody disturbs you.” It’s about doing whatever it takes to make it look like that cloud.”
Swift said she and her partner of six years had to “avoid weird stories and things like tabloids,” without revealing the identity of her boyfriend.
So she explained that the song is about blocking out the noise and focusing on what really matters.
The Blank Space singer and Alwyn began dating after Swift split with musician Calvin Harris in 2016.
Well-known and unlike many of the pop diva’s previous relationships, which included dating Joe Jonas, John Mayer, Harry Styles, and Tom Hiddleston, the All-to-Well singer and The Favorite The stars of The Rap have made an effort to keep their romance alive.
They have yet to confirm engagement rumors that have been circulating since late spring. In an interview he gave to Elle magazine at the time, he explained that his withdrawal was not motivated by a desire for privacy.
