Sony Pictures LatAm Adds Former Telemundo CEO Francisco Rivera to Management Restructuring

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Latin America today announced a change in its top management team that includes a new network management structure for joint leadership and the addition of Francisco Rivera to the newly created role of head of new business in Latin America.

Selina Nederhand has been named Senior Vice President and Head of Content Strategy, and Luis Sabal has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Head of Revenue on Shared Networks. Both will collaborate in the management of SPT channels in the region. All are based in Miami and will report to John Rositer, EVP, Distribution & Networks, Latin America. The changes take effect on July 1.

Netherhand, which oversaw the acquisition of content for the networks, distribution and original production for the networks, will assume additional responsibilities for programming, planning, media planning and business affairs for the networks that report to it.

Sabal, who recently served as vice president of advertising sales in Latin America, will continue to manage advertising sales and partnerships with brands and innovation in the region, while taking on additional responsibilities for branch sales and traffic.

Rivera is responsible for identifying new digital opportunities and will oversee all technological efforts for the digital business as well as technical operations. He previously spent 11 years in various management positions at Telemundo NBCUniversal, developing a new business and digital portfolio, and worked at Univision Interactive Media from 2002 to 2010.

“This new structure, an extension of the strategy initiated last September, will allow the Latin American SPT to be more agile, better positioning us to combat emerging market forces,” Rositer said.

SPT Latin America’s online portfolio includes AXN, Sony Channel and the recently launched Sony Movies.
