Joe Budden Podcast
Recently, Joe Budden42-year-old rapper-turned-podcasteracknowledged in a recent episode of Joe Budden Podcastwhich has since been removed, but condom during sex“Even I walked around the corner and pretended like I had worn a condom before,” Joe Budden said with a laugh. “It’s working. They’re not smart!” he said in the audio clip originally shared. The Shade Roomadded, “Yes, I did.”
When I heard the audio I was in disbelief and disgusted by his insensitive behavior. He didn’t even think about it. In fact, he found it funny.
Stealth is the act of stealthily removing a condom before or during sex without the other person’s consent. Removing or damaging sexual barriers of any kind without the consent and knowledge of the other party is sexual assault. It’s a crime and there’s nothing funny about it.
Many people were annoyed by Budden’s past behavior and called him out on it. “Guys really want all black men in jail lol,” he commented on Twitter.
I wish I could say I was surprised, but I am not. Budden, like many of his male counterparts, does not see condom removal without consent as a problem.Researcher Alexandra Brodsky published a study on stealth in Columbia Journal of Gender and Law And it turns out that stealth perpetrators use misogyny rhetoric to justify their actions. stealth It is a ‘human right’, that ‘humans should spread their species even if reproduction is impossible’. Full stop, stealth is rooted in the desire to wield power and control other humans. It is the total violation of someone’s trust for their sexual gain.
Every two minutes, an American is sexually assaulted. This equates to an average of 237,868 rape or sexual assault victims each year. This is amazing AF. In a 2017 survey In a survey of more than 2,000 people over three months at a local clinic, nearly one in three women said they had been “stolen” at some point in their lives. About 19% of men who have had sex with other men said they have had sex too. Another survey in 2019Recruiting women aged 21 to 30 with “high sexual risk profile”, 12% of respondents said their partner was stealing and almost half experienced some form of coercive resistance to condoms. He said he did. This is not okay. We have to start holding these people accountable. And accountability is in court.
Stealth is a form of sexual assault, and although sexual assault is a crime, stealth is still not a punishable offense in the United States. Federal law, introduced in California earlier this year, explicitly designates stealth as a form of sexual violence and creates a legal channel for victims to seek damages and remedies from perpetrators. Another bill, called the Consent Matters Act, authorizes survivor civil damages for other states by increasing funding for federal domestic violence programs in the states that passed those laws. Encourage them to pass their own laws. So, unfortunately for Mr. Badden, he won’t be going to jail anytime soon.
Stealth is a violation of trust and physical autonomy, leading to feelings of psychological distress and shame. Men like Budden have had their wrists tapped for far too long when it comes to this behavior. As my grandma used to say, “hit where it hurts.” He won’t go to jail, but we should stop supporting him and his podcast.
