Director and actor Sean Peng is currently in Ukraine working on a documentary about the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. Sean was spotted at a government press conference Ukraine the capital, Kyiv, on Thursday after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a military operation in the neighboring country. A statement confirming Sean’s presence in Ukraine was also issued by the Administration of the President of Ukraine, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

“The director came to Kyiv specifically to record all the events taking place in Ukraine and to tell the world the truth about Russia’s invasion of our country. Sean Peng today is one of those who support Ukraine in Ukraine. Our country is grateful to him. for such a display of courage and honesty, ”the translation reads.

The documentary is produced by Vice Studios in conjunction with Vice World News and Endeavor Content. Sean last visited Ukraine in November 2021 and began preparing for his documentary by visiting the country’s military.

Russia launched an invasion by land, air and sea on Thursday after declaring war on President Vladimir Putin. An estimated 100,000 people fled when the bombings and shootings took place in major cities. Dozens were reported killed.

U.S. and Ukrainian officials say Russia is seeking to seize Kiev and overthrow a government that Putin sees as a puppet of the United States. Russian troops captured the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant north of Kiev as they advanced the shortest route to Kyiv from Belarus to the north.

Sean Penn, 61, is a two-time Oscar winner for his roles in Mystic River (2003) and Milk (2008). He was last seen in the 2021 comedy “Licorice Pizza,” in which he played a supporting role.
