Actor Arun Govil almost gained cult status 35 years ago when he played the role of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s TV show Ramayan. Recently, a video has surfaced of a tearful woman falling at her feet. He even tells her to get up multiple times as she is seen folding her hands in front of him.
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Arun Gobir said he believes they are “not touching their feet, but complimenting their beliefs and beliefs.” He said he was merely a symbol and Lord Ram made him that way. Of the incident, he said, “I remember seeing this woman at the airport and yelling, ‘Rum! She then grabbed my leg and literally rubbed her forehead against my shoe! At that point I didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t even bend down to pick her up. When she calmed down a little, I tried to get her to stand. She told me her husband was in ICU. She had a yellow dupatta and she wanted to wrap it around me. I said to her, “Take this dupatta and put it on her master.”
He said he has faced such situations before as people touch his feet. Finally he accepted it. He said that people older than him would touch his feet, and when he tried to stop them, someone once asked him if he had a problem. , tried to explain that the elder is not allowed to touch the feet of the younger. But they kept arguing and he agreed.
In a previous interview with PTI in 2020, Arun Govil recalled that people kept calling him Lord Rama. He also said that his image as Ram was so strong that his film did not work. “After Ramayan, my film career was almost over. I used to do films. I tried to get out of the image, but it didn’t work… later I realized maybe God wanted me to be Ram, people didn’t call me Arun Govil. , I call him Ram, and that’s a big deal.”
