Peter Jackson says Amazon failed to deliver scripts

Peter Jackson revealed that he never received scripts for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power after Amazon said it would share them.

Peter Jackson spent a lot of time in Middle-earth after directing both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy. The franchise is now with Amazon, which is creating the most ambitious TV show to date Rings of power.

Amazon delivery failed

Peter Jackson previously stated this he’s excited to see what Amazon is doing with The Lord of the Rings. At one point during the show’s development, Amazon asked him for input, saying they would send him the scripts once they were completed. However, Jackson shared The Hollywood Reporter‘s Business podcast that the scripts never made it:

“They asked me if I wanted to participate – [writer-producer Fran Walsh] and I – and I said, “That question cannot be answered without seeing the script.” They said, “As soon as we get the first couple of scripts, we’ll send them to you.” And the scripts never appeared. That’s the last I’ve heard, and that’s okay. No complaints.”

Here’s a synopsis for Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power:

This epic drama takes place thousands of years before the events of J. RR Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and will take audiences back to an era when great powers were created, kingdoms rose to glory and fell, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung on the thinnest of threads, and the greatest villain ever came out of Tolkien’s pen, threatened to cover the whole world with darkness. Beginning in a period of relative peace, the series follows a group of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront what has long been feared, the resurgence of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elven capital Lyndon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the farthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will create a legacy that will live on for a long time. they are not there.

Amazon Studios is producing Rings of power in association with Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins and New Line Cinema. Jay Dee Payne and Patrick McKay serve as showrunners and executive producers.

The ensemble for the show consists of Robert Aramayo, Owen Arthur, Nazanin Baniadi, Tom Budge, Marfid Clarke, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Emma Horvath, Markella Caven, Joseph Maule, Tyro Muhafidine, Sophia Nomwete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Wayman.
