Jack Keller, an actor known for the film “The Great Lebowski”, has died.

American character actor Jack Keller has died at the age of 75 after battling leukemia, his family confirmed yesterday (May 9th).

Keller was best known to viewers for his role in the 1998 Cohen Brothers film Great Lebowski, in which he played Marty, the host of the title character Jeff Bridges Jeffrey “Dude” Lebowski. A primarily a character actor, Keller has had more than 170 credits in his name over nearly 40 years of work in the film and television industries.

Other films shown by Keller include People in Black II, Water world, Austin Powers: The spy who bypassed me and Walking Hard: The Story of Dewey Cox. On television, Keller had small roles in several notable shows – among them Crazy, 24, Monk and NYPD Blue. Before his death, he worked on a film called Platinum loop.

TV presenter Jay Fireber remembered Keller as a “great actor”, praising his role in the 1991 film. The Last Boy Scout:

Actor and director Jeff Daniel Phillips, who worked with Keller on the 2010 short film papashany – Keller recalled as a “dear talented friend”, as well as a “loyal artist” who “gave everything to all his roles”:

Keller is survived by his wife, Sean Casey, as well as son Eddie, daughter-in-law Marie-Ann and grandson Liam.
