Mayor Bowser and DC

Abbott sent the first bus to Chicago on August 31st. In the weeks since, the city has received over 1,500 immigrants from Texas in his 12 buses.Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said, “This is a very important moment for Chicago because our city has been a sanctuary for thousands of newcomers. Mayor Adams and New York City
More than 2,900 immigrants have been shipped to New York City since August, although the numbers are unknown. Adams has continually criticized Abbott for his treatment of immigrants due to surprise political moves. In a most recent interview, Adams speculated that Abbott intended to undermine cities with black mayors by bussing immigrants to Apple, Washington, D.C., and Chicago. “These are three cities that have black mayors. He has faced criticism from fellow New Yorkers politicians for his treatment of immigrants for refusing to take up allocated resources.
