Early in the episode, Queen Aricent (Emily Carey), Rhaenyra’s former best friend and current stepmother interrogated Ser Criston about rumors that Rhaenyra had been spotted intimate with her uncle in a brothel. Unaware of the fact that he was a member of the Kingsguard, he admitted that he himself had slept with the princess, breaking his oath as a member of the Kingsguard.
