Nicholas CruzThe man who brutally shot and killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in 2018 was sentenced to life in prison without parole. CNN. judge Elizabeth Scherrer A jury sentenced Nicolas on Tuesday, November 2, after sparing him the death penalty last month. In October 2021, Nicholas pleaded guilty to slaughtering 14 students and his three teachers with an AR-15 rifle he had four years earlier on Valentine’s Day.

In total, Nicholas was sentenced to life in prison for each of 34 murder and attempted murder charges. The sentencing came after two days of heartbreaking and emotionally affecting statements from victims and families of the horrific shooting. “The way you grieved so gracefully and showed extraordinary restraint throughout this process is something I’ve never seen,” she said.
