Everything We Know About Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ Season 2
Netflix has found a new hit in the form of Tim Burton Wednesdays, the Addams Family series focused on the dark daughter played by Jenna Ortega.
The show is currently set to number one on Netflix, but unlike many recent Netflix series, it wasn’t meant to be a one-off limited series, with more seasons already planned. But unlike ‘Planned’, Wednesday’s season 2 has yet to be renewed by Netflix.
But given its relatively high scores from critics and viewers and its performance on Netflix’s hours-watched chart, Wednesday seems the most likely for a second season. Maybe, but it’s not a sprawling sci-fi or fantasy epic with lots of expensive CGI. And finally, I think you realize that Netflix probably wants to foster a relationship between old-school talent (Tim Burton) and new-school talent (Jenna Ortega).
So maybe showrunners are already talking about future plans for the series. TV line About Season 2:
“We felt like we just touched the surface of those characters, and the actors are so great in those roles,” said Miller. “I think Katherine is the iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesdays and Morticia is also integral to the show, and the idea that Wendy is trying to forge her own path outside of her family is important.
He went on to say that even though this may not be a full “Addams Family” series like the original, the plan is to feature the family in at least a few episodes in a similar fashion to Season 1. And the idea is to expand the family even further than what we saw in season one, with the arrival of new members.
Netflix has built a reputation for killing shows that should otherwise have been renewed, but this feels like a no-brainer. It permeates pop culture conversation in ways you’d love to see. It’s Jenna Ortega’s (another) star-making turn. Jenna Ortega, more or less born on Netflix, serves as Yu’s breakout support role in Season 2. series like this. We’ll give you another week at #1 on Wednesday before we declare it yet, but season 2 is all but certain.
Update (11/29): Wednesday continues to hold the top of Netflix’s Top 10 charts, and all signs point to a smash hit in viewership, even though Netflix isn’t reporting official numbers. Not just the US, but all important global markets.
Of all the countries with measurable top 10 lists on Netflix worldwide, only 5 do. No there is wednesday as their first show Compared to the dozens that currently put it in the top spot. No, it’s rare and seems like Wednesday’s strong performance and further evidence of a potential renewal for Season 2. As we speak, we have to believe that Netflix is probably on the verge of announcing at least one season renewal.
The show isn’t a breakout critical hit. Its 69% on Rotten Tomatoes is a decent but not amazing figure, but unsurprisingly, that number is higher for fans who have it at 88%. Most of the praise from the house and audience has been saved because of Jenna Ortega’s lead role, and the main complaint is that the rest of the show needs to improve to live up to her performance. It means that it may be.
At this point, there’s basically no doubt about Wednesday’s season 2 renewal, but we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Netflix.
