Emmy-worthy performance ends with ‘House of the Dragon’

House of the Dragon continues skip time With each new episode, you may stop for a certain period of time during the week.

“Viserys yet alive? “

Spoilers for this week’s episode follow.

I think we are about 16 years ago now when Paddy Considine’s Viserys seemed to have some kind of unknown disease. After this final timeskip, six more years were added to the previous decade. Or rather, he lived. The episode finally ends with his last breath.

Whatever you think of House of the Dragon as a whole, Paddy Considine’s nuanced performance as Viserys is one of its highlights.Producing a zombie effect, he delivers a life-long performance in the role. Did. Last night Viserys arrived to preside over the succession of Driftmark and the debate by his representatives on his own throne. He gets out of bed with his daughter and practically crawls onto the Iron Throne to do so, in a powerful scene declaring his (apparently illegitimate) grandson to be the rightful heir. Incredible moments of incredible characters.

Of course he failed and took his life Something This is… not the Aegon he’s referring to, but there are about 50 Targaryens named Aegon, so this misunderstanding could lead to war between different parts of the family. Honestly, given the boys in question, it seems like it probably happened anyway.

As for Considine, his performance as the waning Viserys since the show’s inception deserves some recognition.Given the ensemble nature of the series, he could be submitted as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, but in that category he’ll probably fend off a few inherited actors. Last year’s nominees:

  • Nicholas Brown (Succession)
  • Billy Crudup (The Morning Show)
  • Kieran Culkin (Succession)
  • Park Hye Soo (Squid Game)
  • Matthew McFadden (inheritance)
  • John Turturro (Severance)
  • Christopher Walken (Severance)
  • Oh Yeon-soo (Squid Game)

Stacked categories (Macfadyen won, I take for granted), but he at least deserves to be on next year’s list. Come on, succession guys have a lot of opportunities.

In any case, even if he wasn’t given a statue, these eight weeks of Considine’s performance have been hell. Excellent work, and of all the characters in Westeros, Viserys stands the test of time as one of his best performances.
