Emma Thompson shows that the front scene was “the most difficult” that she shot – Movie News | Film-News.co.uk

Lady Emma Thompson says her nude scene in “Good Luck, Leo Grande” was “the hardest thing she’s ever done.”

The 62-year-old actress undressed for a full frontal scene in a drama in which a widow hires a young male escort to help explore sexual intimacy that she lacked in marriage.

The Oscar winner admitted that it was difficult for her to get dressed in front of the camera, and stressed that women have been “brainwashed all their lives to make them hate our bodies.”

Speaking at a press conference for the Berlin Special Gala, she said: “When I stand in front of a mirror, I always pull something, or turn to the side, I will do something. I can’t just stand. Why should I do this is awful.

“But it’s a problem, it’s true that women have been brainwashed all their lives to make them hate our bodies. It’s just a fact. And everything that surrounds us reminds us that we are imperfect, and everything is wrong with us.

She admitted: “It’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do.

“So I really did what I never did as an actor.”

Thompson urged the public to “just accept” and “not judge” themselves the next time they see themselves naked.

Her latest comments on the subject came after the veteran actress recently discussed the “terrible demands” placed on women to maintain a perfect figure.

She said: “Nothing has changed in the horrible demands on women in the real world, but also in acting. It’s something that needs to be lean, all the same as it ever was, and in fact I I think something is worse now. “

Thompson also described plastic surgery as a “form of collective psychosis.”

The actress “Cruella” abandoned the idea of going under the knife and said it was a “very strange thing” when aging is “completely natural”.

Asked if she had ever considered cosmetic surgery, she replied, “Why are you doing this? I just don’t understand.

“I honestly think that cutting yourself off to put it somewhere else so you don’t seem like you’re doing what you’re actually doing, and that’s completely natural aging, is a form of collective psychosis.

“I really think it’s very strange.”

Thompson explained that she was “always” against plastic surgery, noting that she was against women being told what to “do” with their bodies.

She added: “I’ve always thought so. But I’ve always been a militant feminist when it comes to the female body and what we’ve done to them, what we’re told to expect from ourselves, what we’re told to do with ourselves.”
