Cynthia Nixon “took some time to recover” after a failed run for governor of New York four years ago.
In March 2018, the Sex and the City actress announced that she was running for governor of New York as a candidate for the incumbent Democratic President Andrew Cuomo, and after six months of intense campaign, she lost Cuoma in the primaries from the Democratic Party.
In an interview with Vogue, Nixon admitted that the company is exhausted and it needs to take a break to recharge later.
“I mean, a political campaign really takes a lot from you,” she said. “And so it took me a while to recover. It was very necessary and very welcome.”
Asked if she could return to the political arena in the future, the 55-year-old girl replied: “I mean, I was very politically engaged before running and I am still very politically engaged. But I did run, because no one else will run against Andrew Cuomo – because he was so famously vindictive that if you stand up to him, your political career, which you had before, will be stopped. That’s why I ran. I couldn’t stand him going without opposition. “
Cuoma resigned in August 2021 amid numerous allegations of sexual abuse. At the time, Nixon struck a blow at his former political rival after he was stripped of the Amy Award by tweeting, “The difference between me and Andrew Cuoma? None of us are governors, but I still have an Amy.”
Cuoma replaced Katie Hochul, the state’s first female governor.
