Oscar winner Brad Pitt and ex-wife Angelina Jolie are once again embroiled in a legal battle when the former sued the latter for selling its stake in a joint venture to a Russian oligarch.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, they acquired Chateau Miraval in Koran, France, back in 2008. Brad says he has invested a lot of money and time in the winery over the years, though he admits Angelina has reduced 40 percent of the purchase price by $ 28.4 million.
Brad says only he made the winery successful because until 2013 she didn’t do much in that department. He claims that they have always understood that neither of them can sell their share without the consent of the other. For the uninitiated Angelina filed for divorce in 2016 and it has become very controversial.
In July last year, the actress “Maleficent” went to court and told the judge that she had reached an agreement to sell her share to an unnamed person. On the other hand, Brad says that in September he agreed to allow Angelina to continue the sale, but made it clear that he did not agree to the sale, but rather showed a thumb up or down to the proposed buyer.
According to TMZ, Brad claims that in October he was shocked to learn that a company called Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Stoli Group (a vodka company) controlled by Brad Pitt, Russian oligarch Yuri Sheffler bought its stake in the wine. He claims that Angelina never sought his consent and deliberately complied with the conditions
a deal from him.
Brad says Scheffler has wreaked havoc on his ability to run a winery. A source close to Brad told TMZ: “Unfortunately, this is another example of the same person ignoring his legal and ethical obligations. Thus, she violated the rights of the only person who poured money and sweaty capital into the success of the business, as if to sell both the business and the family home to another competitor.
“She is seeking a return on investments she did not make and profits she did not make,” the source added. Insiders told TMZ that now Brad wants the judge to cancel the deal. He also wants to cover the damage.
