Blizzard struggles with massive launch day DDoS attacks

overwatch 2
It’s never fun to boot up a game and get hit with a massive direct denial of service (DDoS) attack the same day, but that’s what Blizzard is facing right now. overwatch 2, A game more or less a sequel.
“The team is working hard on server issues for Overwatch 2,” tweeted Blizzard CEO Mike Ybarra. “We are humbled by the excitement of our players and will continue to focus on issues and keep players entertained! Thank you for your patience.”
Ybarra explains: The team is working hard on mitigation/management. This is causing a lot of drop/connection issues. ”
The game entered early access Tuesday as a free-to-play hero shooter replacing the original overwatch Overall. The title has ditched loot boxes in favor of Season Battle Passes and Item Shops. When not hit hard by a DDoS attack, it’s cross-play where PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC players can all play together. We may have to wait until this issue is resolved, but I’m looking forward to trying it out with my Call Of Duty group.
The game issue seems to have started earlier this morning, It actually started around noon PT.
Hopefully Blizzard will fix this mess and players will be able to join the game soon.
