Veteran actor Arun Bali died today at the age of 79 in Mumbai. The actor suffered from myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease caused by impaired communication between nerves and muscles.

Bali made his acting debut as Shah Rukh Khan’s uncle in renowned filmmaker Lev Tandon’s TV show Doosra Keval. From there, he starred in popular films such as Sougand, Raju Bang Gaya Gentleman, Harunayak, Sathya, and Hey Ram. Apart from acting in television shows, his recent work also included films such as 3 Idiots, Barfi, Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath, Samrat Prithviraj and Laal Singh Chaddha.

The actor had also appeared in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat which also starred Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon. When BT reached out to his Gowariker to tell him about the deceased actor, he said: Working with him at Panipat was an unforgettable experience.
