Aricent and Raenira Recast in Next Episode of ‘House of the Dragon’

Both Alicent and Rhaenyra will be played by new actors in the next episode of “House Of The Dragon.” … [+]
Episode 5 dragon house It was the best episode since it premiered. In many ways, I think the show has really made its stride in this moment. During an episode bookended by two bloody and gruesome murders.
The second of these murders takes place during a wedding, but this one has more to do with Brand, given how well weddings usually go in the writings of George R. R. Martin. This episode felt like a fitting one, perhaps more than any other game of thrones In many ways, this show plays a better game than the original series, which was far more concerned with zombies and prophecies and other epic fantasy tropes. House of the Dragon.
Either way, it’s all very bittersweet. Just as the show is on its feet, it’s only five episodes in and has already lost two main actors. already recast). Two of the show’s brightest stars have fallen, and we have to give both Milly Alcock and Emily Carey the credit and accolades they deserve.
So why are these actors replaced mid-season? The answer is entirely about logistics.
The show had a significant decade time jump between episodes 5 and 6, and instead of aging the actors with makeup and special effects, the showrunners decided to cast two sets of actors instead. dragon house We’ve already done some small time jumps, aging our characters by at least four or five years, but for this next one, we needed a new actor.
This next time jump changes everything. Not only do all the established characters age, but most are Raenira and Aricent’s children, including Viserys and Aricent’s eldest son and potential male successor, Aegon (Tom Glyn Carney). When we meet him in Episode 6, he’s about the same age as Rhaenyra was at the series premiere (and the actor who plays him is 27).
Aegon
Let’s take a look at the recast actors and who each character will be played by for the rest of the series.
La Enilla actress Millie Alcock replaced by Emma Darcy
Emma Darcy (left) and Milly Alcock (right) as two versions of Princess Rainyra Targaryen
I’m not just annoyed that I have to remember actors’ names for review (it’s not easy to remember all those names!). I’m sad about this because I can empathize. My eyebrows used to be very thick, but they have thinned over the years. I am afraid that one day it will disappear.
Emma Darcy, who is non-binary and called “them”, is 30 years old and only 8 years older than Millie Alcock. But that’s about right for time jumps. Rhaenyra is hovering around 20 by episode 5, but in episode 6 her 30 is perfect for her. they have several children.
Alcock is a newcomer, but Darcy has appeared in several shows including truth seeker When Wanderlust. The British actor definitely brings experiences to the table.I watched episode 6 and really enjoyed her performance. She’s one of the only characters that viewers really connect with on an emotional level, so this change is a bit jarring.
Aricent actress Emily Carey will be replaced by Olivia Cooke
Emily Carey (left) and Olivia Cooke (right) as Queen Aricent
Olivia Cooke will appear as an older version of Queen Aricent, replacing Emily Carey. Carey says she’s 19 and Cooke says she’s 28, so the age gap is perfect for her jump, but Alicent is a little older than Rhaenyra, and Alcock and D’Arcy are both older than their counterparts. I think.
Cook is the most famous of this bunch, Bates Motel When vanity fair has had roles in major films like Ready player one. I think she looks more like Carrie’s Alicent than Darcy looks like Alcock’s Raenira. But here’s the thing: Having seen Episode 6, I can say that Aricent herself has changed more than Raenira, which is strongly suggested by the end of Episode 5.
The other two actors being recast are Rhaenyra’s husband Laenor and his sister Laena. appeared as a fully grown woman.
Lenore, played by Theo Nate, is replaced by John McMillan. I think John McMillan looks the least like his younger self compared to all the other new actors. Here is one:
Laenira and family
I don’t think it’s spoiler territory, but Rhaenyra’s children aren’t very light-skinned and don’t look like their father at all. There is, and we may find out in next week’s episode.
Speaking of next week, click here Episode 6 Trailer:
You can see the new actor in action in this trailer. It’s actually pretty interesting. You can also see hints of the ending 10 years later. Harwin Strong seems to have a much more prominent role. He is the character who fought his way past the crowds at the Green Wedding and carried Rhaenyra to safety.
Laena Velaryon also has a child and a Daemon nearby, suggesting that they may have started a family together. Damon certainly likes his young lady!
Many big changes are ahead and in many ways the real story is about to begin. Everything is set up so far. A great change, and a dragon-infused civil war, lies on the bloody horizon.
